Millikan Repeats As Moore League Girls’ Soccer Champions

“It takes a village.”

That’s what Millikan coach Tino Nunez said on Tuesday night at Wilson after his Millikan girls’ soccer team won a second consecutive Moore League championship thanks to a 2-0 win. The Rams have won five of the last six league titles.

“It takes time and building a program is building stability,” Nunez continued. “The coaching staff and the parents— everyone has to buy in. I see alumni parents still coming out to support. With that you can establish what you’re about, and then you get to work. When it starts to click you get more talent.” READ MORE

Millikan Girls’ Soccer Wins Best In The West Tournament

They beat Oaks Christian 2-1 in the semifinals on Saturday, and then goals from senior Audrey Stewart and junior Variah Sanchez carried the Rams past Huntington Beach 2-1 in the final. READ MORE

Millikan Wins Big At Long Beach Poly

Millikan played like the defending Moore League girls’ soccer champions and senior captain Audrey Stewart looked like the best player in the league during the Rams’ 4-1 win on Monday at Long Beach Poly.

Stewart converted an early penalty kick, started the counter attack that led to the third Millikan goal and then capped the scoring with a clinical finish in the second half.

“She’s a leader and you never question her showing up,” MIllikan coach Tino Nunez said. “That’s just contagious. When you have a winning mentality and there’s a player who wants it more than anyone else then you get on board and let’s go." READ MORE

Junior Emily Frost was the only Millikan player with two goals while Audrey Stewart, Alexandra Rios, Variah Sanchez, Alissey Fang and Alma Perez  also scored. The Rams defense held the Lancers without a shot. READ MORE
